Holiday Previews for the Week

5 Build A Scarecrow Day - Scarecrows are built to stand out in the garden to scare crows and other birds away. The crops are out growing in the field during the summer months. So, if you're going to build a scarecrow for your garden, the time is now. Hence, a July date.

5 Work-a-holics Day - You know your a work-a-holic if you are working on your blog or website today! Take a break and celebrate the day!!

6 National Fried Chicken Day - PERFECT for 4th of July weekend, we all need some fried chicken with our watermelon - don'tcha think??

7 Chocolate Day - OMG! Like I actually need a holiday to celebrate this?!?! I guess this just means: EXTRA!
Did you know? Chocolate is a vegetable. It comes from the Cacao tree found in rain forests.

7 National Strawberry Sundae Day - When the strawberries ripen each year, it's time to celebrate. After the harvest has come and gone, summer arrives with heat and humidity. This is the perfect time to eat these yummy berries!

8 Video Games Day - Do you remember Atari? Today's video games are nothing compared to that! I actually woke up sore after an evening of WII Bowling! I guess today would be a good day to break that out and give it another try.

9 National Sugar Cookie Day - I LUV LUV sugar cookies. So simple and yummy...hmm...I wonder if I could get mom to bake me some today - just like the good old days

10 Teddy Bear Picnic Day - Really? Now this one is interesting:
During the early 1900s, President Theodore Roosevelt was in office as President of the United States. He was a hunter. While hunting in Mississippi in 1902, he refused to shoot a small bear. The Washington Post picked up on this story, and made a cartoon of the event. Toy store owners, Morris and Rose Michtom, wrote to President Roosevelt for permission to call their stuffed animals "odTeddy Bears". Teddy bears became wildly popular. Their company went on to become the Ideal Toy Company, one of the largest toy companies in the world.

11 Cheer up the Lonely Day - Today is an opportunity to make a lonely person happy. Any time you can make someone happy, you've done a good thing, and should be proud of yourself.

11 World Population Day - OK, but don't just go around ..you know...populating the world today. I mean you do need to think about this one, maybe we should celebrate the ones we know that are already about to do the populating. Yeah, that sounds good.
