I have been given a new award by una carissima amica!!
Lucia over at LUFANTASYGIOIE makes delicious jewelry creations and shares her beautiful world through her blog that I discovered some time back and thoroughly enjoy when I have the time to spend, and she has bestowed upon me il premio D eci e Lode!

Premio D eci e lode

1. Esporre il logo del "Premio D eci e lode", che è il premio stesso, con la motivazione per cui lo si è ricevuto. E' un riconoscimento che indica il gradimento di una persona amica, per cui è di valore (nel post originario c'è il pratico "copia e incolla");

2. Linkare il blog di chi ha assegnato il premio come doveroso ringraziamento;

3. Se non si lascia il collegamento al post originario già inserito nel codice html del premio provvedere a linkarlo (nel post originario c'è il pratico "copia e incolla");

4. Inserire il regolamento (nel post originario c'è il pratico "copia e incolla");

Holiday Previews for the week

June 28 - Insurance Awareness Day - Now who do you think invented that!?!

June 29 - Camera Day - I luv my camera! Memory Maker AND bribe gadget all in the palm of my hand.

June 29 - Waffle Iron Day - Do you have a waffle iron? I happen to have one and today is a PEERRRRFECT day to use it! Yummy waffles, maybe my blueberry bush has some blueberries on it that the squirrels haven't gotten to yet...yymmmmmm

June 30 - Meteor Day - Meteors are space dust and ice that enter the earth's atmosphere. Meteors can be as small as specks of dust. As they enter the atmosphere at high speeds, they burn up, producing light as they streak across the night sky. Sometimes, you see them streak across the sky and disappear at the horizon. Other times, they end suddenly, burning out right before your eyes. Will you be lucky enough to see meteors streaking across the night sky?

July Month:

National Blueberry Month
National Anti-Boredom Month
Unlucky Month for weddings
National Cell Phone Courtesy Month
National Hot Dog Month
National Ice Cream Month

Week Event:

Week 2 Nude Recreation Week

July 1 - Canada Day - Canada Day is a celebration of Canadian nationalism, heritage and pride. Canada became self-governing on July 1st, 1867, with the passage of the British North America Act (BNA Act) in the British Parliament. The holiday was originally known as "Dominion Day". It was changed to Canada Day by the Canadian Parliament on October 27, 1982.

July 1 - Creative Ice Cream Flavors Day - What a perfect day to go out the the parlor and have an Ice cream of some flavor that you usually don't eat! Be creative, do you know that while in Italy I would go to a special Ice cream parlor to get garlic flavored ice cream! It was deeeeeeLISCious!!!

July 1 -International Joke Day - how many email jokes do you get a day? Pass them all along today and remind everyone that it is International Joke day. Everyone can use lots of laughs, hey here's one: Knock Knock...

July 2 - I Forgot Day - ..........I forgot

July 2 - World UFO Day - The date for this special day was chosen because it is the date of the Roswell Incident, a historical event leading to wide speculation and belief that aliens have indeed visited us. Organizers are downright serious about getting the overall public to believe that we indeed have been visited by aliens from outer space. They are seeking to get the U.S. and other governments to admit to what they believe is a reality. Like just last night, I was abducted by aliens. I know it because I woke up still tired and feeling all beat up this morning.

July 3 - Compliment Your Mirror Day - because it never lies to you. It loves you for who you are and shows it. It never judges and is always honest. Maybe a dust off in appreciation?

July 3 - Disobedience Day - I PROTEST!!

July 3 - Stay out of the Sun Day - for quite obvious reasons people! It is piping hot out there, especially here in sunny Florida

July 4 - Independence Day (U.S.) - This is our day, America - Be Proud, we still have a lot to be proud of. Of course the basic celebrations are forced upon us through commercialism: hot dogs, Bar BQ, picnics, fireworks, little flags on anything - but take the time and think about what today is REALLY all about and PLEASE if you have children take the time to EXPLAIN what today is all about. Our youth is not getting the education that we owe them about the freedom and the rights of our country and it is up to us adults to teach them and to pass along OUR TRADITIONS as AMERICANS.
For Example: did you know that it is inappropriate to wear clothing or any form of attire that assimilates the American flag at ALL. You see it all the time, and it happens because of commercialism and of patriotism: the biker with the American flag bandanna, the cute girl with the American flag bathing suit or the cowboy with the American flag shirt. It is not appropriate.

July 4 - National Country Music Day - Heeeee Haaawwwwww!! Break out your chaps and head on over to your local barn dance and have urself a heck of a swell time. Ok, that's categorizing. I actually do like country music, I am actually super excited: Alan Jackson is coming to our Amphitheatre!!

July 4 - Sidewalk Egg Frying Day - Hmmmm, I wonder why!?! I think we shall have some fun and try some egg frying outside today - probably won't eat them, but it will be fun for the kids.

Friday's Fab Finds

How many of you have an Artfire account? What are your opinions of this site? any comparisons to others?
I think this is the third time I have started an Artfire account. I don't know why, I guess sometimes I just get stuck in a run and it's easier to tread along than to try and move ahead. I have been wanting to spread my wings and do more shops, it's just that it has taken me this long to learn about Etsy and how to run a shop there. It seems that I spend more time researching and networking than actual sale work on the shop. I am obviously missing the ball there, but I am having a hell of a time in the mean time, I am meeting a LOT of great people and I am enjoying all of that. But I think it's time to try something new and seeing that Artfire.com keeps popping up I thought I'd go ahead and try that route, I was just hoping on some feedback. Some way to get hints upfront. Once I learn more about it I will blog it. after all that's what this blog is about - sharing what I learn as I go along.
Thanks to all that share!!

anyone hear about this?

I was wondering just how it is my husband (remember the computer geek?) was able to get so-o-o much work done on his laptop. Holiday Previews for the week

June 21 Finally Summer Day - Summer Solstice is sometimes referred to as "Midsummer" Litha". It's the longest day of the year. The amount of daylight only goes down from here....for the next six months (more on that later). Summer Solstice is the meteorological start of summer. So grab some tea and enjoy!

June 21 Go Skate Day - This day was created by the International Association of Skateboard Companies (IASC) to promote skateboarding. Grab a skateboard, take the kids to the local skate park (if you are lucky enough to have one like we do here in St. Augustine!). Or have a skate party for the kids in the back yard- imagine the fun!!

June 22 National Chocolate Eclair Day - No need to convince you how important this day is - make your own, head to the local bakery or your Dunkin Doughnuts - for heavens sake just have an eclair

June 23 National Columnists Day - The National Society of Newspaper Columnists created National Columnists Day. It was established on April 18th, in memory of the day columnist Ernie Pyle was killed in World War II. National Columnists Day recognizes the importance and value of newspaper columnists! Thanks to all of you out there!

June 23 National Pink Day - doesn't this just sound sweet?!? I love pink, it's just that sometimes it seems ....well too girly, I am happy that there is a day out there for this color because it is a great color and it shouldn't be just for little girls

June 23 Take Your Dog to Work Day - This very special day for you and your dog was created in 1996 by Pet Sitters International. But you might want to check with your workplace, it may not be appropriate if you work in food place, or your fellow workers might have allergies, and well although dogs are very important to us in our lives - it's kinda not fair to the kitties!

June 24 Swim a Lap Day - Summer has arrived and it's beneficial to enjoy all that summer has to offer, including plenty of time in and around the pool or lake or sea. What better way to enjoy the early days of summer, than by taking a lap or two (or three? In addition to the fun, it's great exercise to help keep you fit.

June 25 Log Cabin Day - The Log Cabin Society, founded by Virginia Handy, and the Bad Axe Historical Society, in Michigan created the annual Log Cabin Day on June 25, 1986. Their objectives included promoting the preservation of Log Cabins, and awareness and education of life during the era in America when log cabins were common. In Boy Scouts we have fun making a tiny log cabin out of pretzel sticks and chex mix and peanut butter then we have fun eating them!!

June 25 National Catfish Day - On June 25, 1987, President Ronald Reagan began a presidential proclamation with the words "More and more Americans are discovering a uniquely American food delicacy — farm-raised catfish."
You should have no doubt what to do today. Enjoy a plateful of catfish, cooked anyway you want. Chances are, you will eat farm raised catfish, which supplies the vast majority of catfish to the U.S. market. But, wouldn't it be much more fun to fish in the morning, and catch the catfish you will eat?

June 26 Beautician's Day - Beauticians include your hair stylist, as well as manicurists. Their talents and training transforms the everyday you into the beautiful woman you always knew was inside of you. They make you glow, and feel great about yourself. The guys appreciate your Beautician, too! Thanks to all you beautiful beauty making people!

June 26 Forgiveness Day - although Global Forgiveness Day is held on August 27th and International Forgiveness Day is the first Sunday of August, today is a time to forgive and to be forgiven. The world will be a better place for this day!.
Global Forgiveness Day began in 1994. It was created and is sponsored by the Christian Embassy for Christ's Ambassadors. It originated in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada.
International Forgiveness Day was created by the World Forgiveness Alliance, a non-denominational, educational foundation. According to their website: " International Forgiveness Day dedicated to evoking the healing power of forgiveness worldwide." The founder is Robert W. Plath, from Mill Valley, California.

June 27 Paul Bunyan Day - French Canadians were believed to have originated Paul Bunyan during the Papineau rebellion of 1837. While he may have been created in Canada, Paul Bunyan quickly became a huge American legend. Many of the tales of Paul Bunyan originated in lumberjack industry and logging communities. Like all good folklore, it was passed from generation to generation by word of mouth. Over campfires, his legend grew, and tales were created. Written tales emerged in the early 1900's.
Paul Bunyan is "credited" with many deeds. Among his more legendary feats:
He created logging in the U.S.
He scooped out the great lakes to water Babe, his ox.
He cleared the entire states of North and South Dakota for farming.
He trained ants to do logging work. They were, of course, Carpenter Ants.
Babe's large footprints created Minnesota's 10,000 lakes.

June 27 Sun Glasses Day - Did you know? Sunglasses protect your eyes from harmful UV rays. Your Optician will tell you that sunglasses with UV protection, will help to avoid cataracts. They also report that UV rays can be stronger in the winter, as the sun's rays hit you on the way down....and as it is reflected back up from the snow.
Be cool like the Fonz! aaaaaaye, wear your sunglasses all day today!

It's amazing with everything there is to do: laundry, cleaning, yardwork, GOING to work, making inventory, taking pics, listing inventory, blogging, scouts, family life, social life (what?) that I still have time to do puzzles. It's because I enjoy it. truly - a time to relax, wipe away all thoughts of the hustle & bustle and sit down and zone out and "play"

Holiday Previews for the week

June 14 - Flag Day - Today is a day for all Americans to celebrate and show respect for our flag, its designers and makers. Our flag is representative of our independence and our unity as a nation.....one nation, under God, indivisible. Our flag has a proud and glorious history. It was at the lead of every battle fought by Americans. Many people have died protecting it. It even stands proudly on the surface of the moon.
You could show your pride in our country, support of our troops and thanks for our rights by displaying the flag today - and did you know that there are proper ways to display the flag:
There is a right way and a wrong way to display the flag. The American flag should be held in the highest of regards. It represents our nation and the many people who gave their lives for our country and our flag. Here are the basics on displaying the American flag:
The flag is normally flown from sunrise to sunset.
In the morning, raise the flag briskly. At sunset, lower it slowly. Always, raise and lower it ceremoniously.
The flag should not be flown at night without a light on it.
The flag should not be flown in the rain or inclement weather.
After a tragedy or death, the flag is flown at half staff for 30 days. It's called "half staff" on land ,and "half mast" on a ship.
When flown vertically on a pole, the stars and blue field , or "union", is at the top and at the end of the pole (away from your house).
The American flag is always flown at the top of the pole. Your state flag and other flags fly below it.
The union is always on top. When displayed in print, the stars and blue field are always on the left.
Never let your flag touch the ground, never...period.
Fold your flag when storing. Don't just stuff it in a drawer or box.
When your flag is old and has seen better days, it is time to retire it. Old flags should be burned or buried. Please do not throw it in the trash.
Did you Know? There is a very special ceremony for retiring the flag by burning it. It is a ceremony everyone should see.Your local Boy Scout group knows the proper ceremony and performs it on a regular basis. If you have an old flag, give it to them. And, attend the ceremony.

June 17 World Juggler's Day - Juggling is a skill and form of entertainment that has been around for thousands and thousands of years. Some of the earliest recorded history supplies proof that juggling was around during the early days of civilized Man. Juggling is primarily entertainment. It is most well documented in Medieval times in Europe. We are all jugglers in a way - multitasking is juggling the "balls" of life!

Friday's Fab Finds

Ever wonder what's a fair and easy way to choose a winner for your blog giveaway? Random.org offers true random numbers to anyone on the Internet. The randomness comes from atmospheric noise, which for many purposes is better than the pseudo-random number algorithms typically used in computer programs. People use RANDOM.ORG for holding drawings, lotteries and sweepstakes, to drive games and gambling sites, for scientific applications and for art and music. The service has existed since 1998 and was built and is being operated by Mads Haahr of the School of Computer Science and Statistics at Trinity College, Dublin in Ireland.

I've been lazy!!!

With my son graduating on Saturday and family in town for the celebration and a family picnic on Sunday, then with yesterday being my birthday the party was just somehow extended. But today everyone has gone and left us. The house seems empty, especially with my son off to New York for the week for a graduation present. Today I feel I should be up and around picking up and putting things back together...but I really don't want to. So, I am going to take one more day off before getting back to life.

Saturday, June 6, 2009

We will be spending the day celebrating my son's graduation! Hooooorah! but, at the same time....tear :'(
